Udupi, Nov 24: In the wake of rising protests against the acquisition of historic NinniKallu Paade at Nandikuru and the pressure on the district administration by the various organizations, the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) officers visited the area on Friday November 23.

Recently, the members of various organizations took out protests, condemning the conversion of historic Ninnikallu Paade into KIADB industries. In addition, local folk researchers also formed a committee to condemn the conversion of the historic land. The members of BSR Congress party belonging to Sriramulu also staged a similar protest.

Therefore, Udupi DC Dr MT Reju directed DIADB officer Ashok to visit the Ninnikallu area again. Speaking to the media on the occasion, Ashok said, “The historic Ninnikallu Paade will not be demolished for any reason. Instead plans to preserve the historic land will be implemented".

"The four acre land will be preserved by constructing compound wall around it. Moreover, there are plans to develop garden in the area", he said.

However, the public demanded to reserve about eight acres of land as against the proposed four acres for the preservation purpose.  Responding to the demand, Ashok said, “We will submit an appeal to the head office stating the demand”.

BSR Congress district convener Dinesh Ganiga, leaders Nassir Hussian, Manjunath Balkoor, Sathish Poojary, Praveen Poojary, Nithin Kumar Kapu, Pushpa Kapu, Shankar, Barathesh, Bharath Shetty, Srinivas Ermal, Praksh Shetty among others were present.
