Bantwal: Lightning strike damages house in Sajipamooda

Bantwal, Nov 6: A lightning strike caused significant damage to a house in Sajipamooda village’s Manjalpade area in Kekunarabettu on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred around 8 pm at the residence of Puttubava, resulting in the destruction of various electrical appliances and fittings. Items such as an inverter, fans, tube lights, switchboards, the main switch, and wiring were severely damaged, leading to an estimated loss of lakhs of rupees. Fortunately, Puttubava, his wife, and their four children were unharmed.

On Tuesday, parts of Dakshina Kannada district experienced rainfall, with areas like Sullia and Kadaba witnessing showers in the evening. The rest of the district saw mixed weather, featuring sunshine and clouds.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, there is a forecast for sporadic rainfall over the next three days. Mangaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 31.5°C, which is 1°C below the usual average, and a minimum temperature of 23.4°C, a slight increase of 0.1°C above the norm.
