Saint Mother Teresa Forum hosts Diwali celebrations for unity and harmony

Mangaluru, Nov 6: The Saint Mother Teresa Forum, Mangaluru, in association with Holy Cross Church, Kulshekar, hosted the ‘Festival of Lights - Diwali Celebrations 2024’ at Kalpane Maidan, Kulshekar. This gathering aimed to unite people from diverse backgrounds, celebrating Diwali and promoting cultural harmony within the community.

The event opened with an inspiring cultural program led by the Fr Walter Albuquerque SJ Choir and the Kalasaraswati Dance Academy, featuring a prayer song along with vibrant music and dance performances embodying the festive spirit of Diwali. Dolphy D'Souza served as the emcee for the cultural segment, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the proceedings.

Following the cultural programme, the formal stage ceremony commenced, with Manoj Vamanjoor as the master of ceremonies. The event was inaugurated by Michael D'Souza, a noted social thinker and NRI entrepreneur, who delivered a thoughtful address emphasizing the importance of unity and harmony in a diverse society. Other notable dignitaries, including actor Aravind Bolar; Sarfuddin B S from Ahsanul Masajid, Bikarnakatte; advocate Ramaprasad S, chairman of Sri Dharmashasta Mandir Trust, Jyotinagar Kulshekar; Fr Clifford Fernandes, parish priest of Holy Cross Church; and local corporator Kishore Kottari, shared insights on the significance of unity, respect, and cultural diversity.

Roy Castellino, president of the Saint Mother Teresa Forum, delivered the presidential address, expressing gratitude to the community for its support and reflecting on Diwali's role in fostering togetherness.

Ruth Castelino concluded the event with a vote of thanks, acknowledging everyone's contributions to the celebration’s success. The event wrapped up with a lively fireworks display, adding a festive touch to the Diwali gathering.
