Mangalore, Aug 7: Devidas Santosh Patil (28), son of Santhosh Dayaram Patil and Hira Bai was diagnosed with mental instability after he failed to clear his tenth grade.
In an effort to cure Devidas, his family admitted him for treatment at Mumbai Jalgavn, Duliya. He seemed to be normal after the treatment and was sent home, but he refused to take medication claiming himself to be fit.
However, his mental state worsened, and Devidas left his home on December 30, 2010. A complaint was registered at the local police station and news was published on local TV channels about his disappearance. His family soon began lose hopes of seeing him again.
Snehalaya, a charitable institution, found Devidas on February 1 earlier this year. Since then, he is undergoing treatment and is under the care of the trust.
After recuperating to considerable extent he gave his home address. Snehalaya contacted his home, sending along a photograph of Devidas. Recently, his family members contacted the trust and also arrived to meet him.
His younger brother, Suhas Patel along with his brother-in-law came to visit their missing family member.
Devidas is one among the many who have found a new lease of life at Snehalaya.
