Mangalore, Jun 11: Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes on Sunday June 10 claimed that he was unaware of the fact that Navayug Construction Company belonged to Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, leader of YSR Congress party.
The contract to widen NH 66 road from Suratkal to Kundapur was given to Navayug Construction Company owned by Jagan Reddy, but following his arrest by the CBI, the work was suspended as the court ordered complete stay on all the financial transactions of the company.
To the queries raised by the reporters regarding obstacles in the road construction as Jagan is arrested, Oscar said that he was unaware that the company belonged to him. He said that the issue will be investigated and assured that he would see to it that there won’t be any obstacle in the construction of national highway.
In reply to a query about the next President, he said that the final decision had not been taken, however, Pranab Mukarjee might be chosen.
Surathkal block congress president K Vijaykumar Shetty, zilla Congress minority president BA Mohemuddhin Bawa, Abdul Sathar, Ashok Shetty, Hussain Katipalla, Hasanabba Mangalpete, Ullas Shetty, Purushotham Chithapur among others were present.
