DCP Seeks Action against Former Cricketer Venkatesh Prasad, Wife

Bangalore, May 7 (PTI) : A top police official has sought action against former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad and his wife for allegedly committing a "security breach" at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here after the IPL match between Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Division) Ravikante Gowda told PTI that Prasad's wife, Jayanti, refused to listen when he intervened after she had a heated argument with an ASI who asked her and two others, standing near the players' zone after the match, to vacate the place.

The Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) found two women, including Jayanti, and an elderly man standing near the players' zone and asked them to move away as they were not supposed to be standing there and were committing a security breach, he said.

Jayanti said she would call her husband and refused to move and despite his intervention she did not listen, Gowda said.

"Meanwhile Venkatesh Prasad came out and after arguing with the ASI, he took all of them inside the players' zone, which is a clear breach of security," he said.

Gowda said that he would be sending the ASI's report as well as his take on the incident to Police Commissioner Jyothi Prakash Mirji and also the organisers for them "to take appropriate action against both Jayanthi Prasad and her husband".
