Mangalore: Three of Family Meet with Accident - One Dead, Two Injured

Mangalore, May 7: One person was killed and two others injured in an accident that took place between a Maruti Omni and a bus here on Sunday May 6.
The deceased has been identified as Padil resident Arun D'Souza, who was returning home with his wife Ledwin and son Avren Bernard D'Souza from N R Pura after attending a function.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Avren said that they were travelling by their Maruthi Omni (KA 19 MC 4266), driven by his father Arun. Avren was in the passenger seat while Ledwin was reportedly sitting behind.
When a reached a place called Mala at around 6.30 pm, a bus plying from the opposite direction rammed into their vehicle. It is said that as there was a steep curve down the road, Arun could not spot the bus.
The bus reportedly belonged to KIOCL but had CISF personnel in it. Arun was stuck inside the Omni, and was helped out by the CISF staff. Avren called up the ambulance and his parents were rushed to AJ Hospital. However, the doctors pronounced Arun dead on arrival.
Arun had his own cloth business and Avren used to help him. Ledwin has been with A J Hospital as marketing executive for almost 10 years now. She suffered multiple injuries and is in the ICU, while Avren is recovering from minor injuries on his right leg in the same hospital.
A case has been registered in the Karkala rural police station in this regard.
The funeral cortege leaves A J Hospital to Cordel Church, Kulshekar on Wednesday May 9 at 3.30 pm.
