Mangalore: Young Sanjana Shows Great Promise on Dance Stage

Mangalore, May 5: Sanjana B S Kottari, daughter of Balakrishna J Kottari and Sujatha B Kottari is a budding dancer who made her 'Rangapravesham' at Town Hall recently.
The event was inaugurated by Vedamurthy Neeleshwar K U Padmanabha Tantri along with other dignitaries like Karnataka Kala Tilak Ullal Mohan Kumar, Dr Mohan Alva (chairman Alvas Education Foundation ), Lekshni Kumaran (DGM, CC & CSR, MRPL), Clifford D'Souza (trustee, Prem Chaaya), Purushottam Kottari (president , Kottari Samaja Sudharaka Sangha).
The programme began with a pushpanjali followed by varnam, padam, bhajan, muddugare yashoda and a tillana. Dr M Mohan Alva in his address said that there was scarcity of teachers who teach shastriya bharatanatyam, and Sanjana B S Kottari was fortunate to get a guru like Vani Rajgopal, a disciple of the great Ullal Mohan Kumar.
Ullal Mohan Kumar said that his disciple Vani Rajgopal had put in efforts to teach her disciple Sanjana B S Kottari perfection, angashuddi shastriya bharatanatyam.
Sanjana, a PU student of St Agnes College and Sandesh School of Arts, was born on May 25, 1995. With the blessings of her grandfather the late Janardhana Kottari, her uncle the late Yashvanth Kottari and her family, she was driven to the marvelous field of art by her parents.
She started her training in bharatanatyam at the age of six in Sandesha Kala Kendra School of fine arts located near Nantoor. She has come across various qualified gurus on her path like Mary Bini, Yagnaprabha, Babitha and Akshatha who trained her for her junior exam in 2007 in which she secured first class marks. She did her senior grade exam under the guidance of Saraswathi and her present guru Vani Rajgopal in 2009 which brought her first class marks.
Presently, she is working to complete vidwat exam under the guidance of her guru Vani Rajgopal.
Speaking to Daijiworld, she said that Rangapravesham was one of the most important days in her life as she had just entered the dance field. She also expressed her gratitude to god and hoped that she could continue to achieve greater heights in dance in the days to come.
