Russia to Ensure its two Nationals' Return from Libya

Moscow, May 1 (IANS/RIA Novosti): Russia will spare no effort to ensure return of Russian nationals detained in Libya, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Monday.

"We will continue our efforts so that Russian citizens return home," Lavrov said.

Russian nationals -- Vladimir Dolgov and Alexander Shadrov -- who worked for a Libyan maintenance company had been detained in Libya last August for allegedly aiding the former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. Both have to appear before a new court hearing soon.

They have been accused by the new Libyan authorities of repairing military equipment for the Gaddafi troops during the civil war in the country.

"This will be a third court hearing and according to our data this will not be the last one," Lavrov said.

Russian consul in Libya would attend the court hearing, the minister said.
