Dubai, Apr 29 (Emirates 24x7): A huge pall of smoke is hanging over Deira in Dubai, a result of yet another fire.
The name of the vessel is reported to be Bhakti Sagar, which has a 1,800 tonne capacity.
Captain of the vessel, Feroz Razzak, said the boat had 17 crew members, all of whom have bene veacuated to safety.
"I do not know how the fire started. Yes, it is the second boat from our group that has caught fire on the Creek. Another boat had caught fire some tow months ago.
"I have ben called to give a statement to the Dubai Police at the Creek side. You are most welcome to join," Razzak told over the phone.
"No one has been hurt in the fire and work is going onto put it out, Razzak said as evening approached.
Traffic has slowed down on both sides of the Creek as rubber-neckers try to get a glimpse of the incident thereby substantially slowing down traffic and creating a bottleneck.
On February 17 explosions were heard from the Creek at around 6pm and 6:30pm on from the blaze that had started on the boat the previous day. One of the boats involved in the incident was said to have been loaded with cars and petroleum products.
"The sky is black with the smoke," a resident of Dubai who was visiting area, told.
