Mangalore, Apr 26: Mansoor (29), the driver of a tourist car who had come from Sakleshpur to Mangalore earlier this week, has reportedly gone missing under mysterious circumstances.
On Monday April 23, Mansoor called home and informed his family that he was in Mangalore on hire. The next day when his family members tried to contact him, his phone was switched off. When efforts to locate him failed, his worried family lodged a complaint in Sakleshpur police station.
On Wednesday April 25, the mechanic of the garage where Mansoor works received a call on his mobile from a coin box in Kannur area in Mangalore. The caller claimed that Mansoor's car had fallen into a field. At once, his brothers and friends left for Mangalore to enquire, but found that the call was a hoax and that no such accident had taken place.
Just before Mansoor reportedly disappeared, a woman from Sullia had called him on his phone. Her call was the last on his phone before it was switched off. Police have centred their investigation on this mystery woman and on the person/people who had hired his vehicle to come to Mangalore from Sakleshpur.
Mansoor is married, but police suspect a love affair due to the involvement of the woman.
Mansoor's mobile phone was active for two days in Puttur, Sullia and Mangalore before turning off, as revealed by the police who tracked it.
