Mangalore, Apr 22: A buffalo belonging to a cattle rearer was stabbed and wounded by miscreants on the intervening night of Saturday April 21 and Sunday April 22.
The injured buffalo belongs to Ashraf of Jelligudde, who is well-known among the Kambala circles.
On Saturday, as usual, Ashraf had tied his buffaloes in his field. On Sunday morning, a person came to his house and informed him that one of his buffaloes had been stabbed.
A frantic search revealed that a man identified as Nasir along with two others had carried out the act.
It is said that the accused, Nasir, is in the habit of killing cattle and selling them for their meat.
As soon as the news spread, locals and activists of communal outfits gathered at the spot and made arrangements to take the injured buffalo to a veterinary doctor.
Kankanady rural police have registered a case.
