Karkala, Apr 20: In a complaint filed in Hebri police station in the taluk on Thursday April 19, Bhaskar Acharya from Karkalajaddu Mane in Hebri stated that his father, Chandraiah Acharya (63) lost his life, having been unable to meet high cost of treatment.
Bhaskar said that his father had suffered a fracture of the leg last year in an accident. Thereafter, he was unable to work. Having been frustrated at his inability to move around and work, Chandraiah consumed poison on April 5. He was taken to a hospital in Manipal, where he was being treated. Bhaskar said that his father was discharged, as the family could not pool enough money for his treatment, on April 18. Chandraiah Acharya was being taken to Hebri government hospital for further treatment, when he breathed his last on the way, the complainant narrated.
The policemen have registered the complaint.
