Mangalore: Murder Attempt on Rahim Uchil - One Arrested

Mangalore, Mar 22: A week after the murderous assault on Rahim Uchil, the first arrest in the case was made on Thursday March 22.

Pandeshwar police on Thursday arrested Umar Farooq from Ullal in connection with the case.

For the past two days, police have been making inquiries around Ullal, and based on the information, they zeroed-in on Umar.

More arrests are likely in the next few days, police sources said.

It may be recalled that Rahim Uchil, president of state Beary Sahitya Academy and general secretary of district unit of BJP minority morcha, was brutally attacked in his office in Attavar on March 15. He was critically injured, but was declared out of danger later on. Three police teams were formed to track down the culprits, and since then investigations have been on.

    Mr. Prabhu...is right in some extent....people taking advantage of Mr. Gowda's politeness. There is not doubt DVS is good & clean person. But we need somebody like BSY through he acts like dictator, i endrose him since people at least have scared about him.

    After installation of our good CM DVS,there has been great change in law and order matter in Mangalore.Now any political party can bring pressure on police people to get done their work.Therefore obvisously criminals who are patronised by various politicians/parties can easily get away from the clutches of law after commiting crime whatever nature may be.
