Puttur, Mar 22: The Sampya rural police arrested three persons accused of pilfering diesel from trucks and tipper lories belonging to KMC Company that is executing the contract of developing the Mani–Mysore state highway on Tuesday March 20.
The arrested has been identified as 36-year-old Abdul Rauf, son of Kunjappa Beary, residing in Mundoor village, near here, 25-year-old Bhaskar Gowda, son of Balappa Gowda, residing in Baltikumer that comes under the limits of Keyyur gram panchayat, and 36-year-old Niranjan, son of Devdas, residing in Hakkimale, that comes under the limits of Kanakamajal gram panchayat in Sullia taluk. All are truck drivers working with KMC Company.
Sampya sub-inspector Nandakumar and police personnel carried out the raid while the trio were pilfering diesel from the KMC Company-owned trucks at Mundoor, near here, on the night of Tuesday March 20. The police have recovered 100 liters of diesel.
The trio were engaged in the act since a few months and this was detected by KMC Company officers who informed the police.
