Udupi, Mar 20: The electronic voting machines (EVM) of Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency arrived amid heavy security and were stored in Dr T M A Pai English Medium School, Kunjibettu, on Monday March 19. The school is guarded round-the-clock by armed police personnel.
Also, the returning officer of Udupi–Chikmagalur parliamentary constituency and Udupi DC Dr Reju announced the percentage of voter turnout in four legislative constituencies of Udupi and Chikmagalur each on Monday March 19.
Under Udupi district, in Kundapur legislative assembly constituency, out of 1,69,668 voters, 1,24, 293 cast their votes with a turnout of 73.26 percent. In Udupi legislative assembly constituency, out of a total 1,64,730 voters, 1,19,502 cast their votes with a turnout of 72.50 percent. In Kaup legislative assembly constituency, of 1,45,055 total voters, 1,01,337 voters cast their franchise with a turnout of 69.86 percent. In Karkala legislative assembly constituency, out of 1,51,240 total voters, those who cast their franchise numbered 1,12,104 with a turnout of 74.12 percent.
Under Chikmagalur district, in Sringeri legislative assembly constituency, out of 1,39,787 total voters, 1,03,170 cast their franchise with a turnout of 73.81 percent. In Mudigere legislative assembly constituency, out of 1,43,510 total voters, 92,541 cast their votes with a turnout of 64.48 percent. In Chikmagalur legislative assembly constituency, out of a total of 1,84,484 voters, 1,09,621 cast their votes with a turnout of 59.42 percent. In Tarikere legislative assembly constituency, of a total 1,53,916 voters, 90,386 cast their franchise with voter turnout at 58.72 percent.
For the entire Udupi–Chikmagalur parliamentary constituency by poll, of a total 12,52,390, voters, 8,52,954 cast their votes registering a net turnout of 68.10 percent.
