Mangalore: Highest Parcel Size Coal Vessel Anchors at NMPT

Mangalore, Mar 14: 'M V CMB Pomerol', a new bulk carrier owned by M/s Pacific Bridge Shipping Corporation, Republic of Panama, carrying 89,794 metric tonnes of coal called at New Mangalore Port as her maiden voyage.
This is the highest parcel size of coal ever handled at the port. The vessel has been received on behalf of the Port Management and garlanded the captain of the vessel, Eduardp H Mondres.
The entire consignment imported from South Africa for M/s Jindal Steel (JSW) Ltd was discharged at the deep draft berth of NMP using harbour mobile cranes and the vessel sailed out on Tuesday March 13.
M/s Wilhelmsen Ship Services are the agents of the vessel and M/s Delta Infra Logistics Ltd, the stevedores.
Coal traffic at NMPT has shown upward trend. During the current financial year 2011-12 (as on February) the Port has so far handled 3.40 million tonnes of coal as against 2.61 million tonnes handled during the corresponding period of previous year with a growth of 30.50%.
