Gaza, Apr 26: The UN World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that it has exhausted all food stocks in Gaza, where Israel’s aid blockade has stretched into its seventh week.
"WFP delivered its last remaining food stocks to hot meals kitchens," the agency said, adding that these kitchens will run out of supplies in the coming days.

Israel halted aid deliveries on March 2, resuming military operations two weeks later after a ceasefire collapsed. The UN stresses that under international law, Israel must ensure humanitarian supplies to the 2.1 million Palestinians in Gaza a claim Israel disputes, insisting there is no aid shortage.
The crisis has seen all 25 WFP-supported bakeries shut down and food parcels run out. Malnutrition is worsening sharply; recent screenings identified over 80 cases of acute malnutrition among children in northern Gaza, double the previous figure.
WFP said food prices have surged by up to 1,400%, and basic commodities are scarce, posing severe risks to vulnerable groups like children, pregnant women, and the elderly.
"Without urgent action to open borders, WFP’s assistance may be forced to end," it warned, urging immediate access for aid.
More than 116,000 tonnes of food aid are ready at border corridors but cannot enter without Israeli approval.
Meanwhile, the WHO’s Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus described the situation as "an awful and grim moment," calling for an immediate end to the blockade.
Israel, however, maintains that Hamas has hijacked aid deliveries a claim the UN denies and has rejected international pressure to lift the blockade.
Since the outbreak of war after Hamas’s 7 October 2023 attack, Gaza’s health ministry reports over 51,439 deaths.
