Bangalore, Jan 19: JDS state president and former Chief Minister, H D Kumaraswamy, announced that Madhu Bangarappa has been appointed as the new president of the state JDS youth unit. The announcement was made after the meeting of senior party leaders held at Golden Palm Resort in the city on Wednesday January 18.
He said that the party plans to attract more youth towards it by organizing party from the grassroots, and that the new president will engage himself in this task shortly.
Expressing happiness about his elevation, Madhu Bangarappa said that a few days back, his elder brother, Kumar Bangarappa, had extended him an invitation to join Congress. He said that there is no chance of him joining Congress, and advised his brother to try to safeguard his own position there. He added that he will get fully occupied with the work of building the party by undertaking tour all over the state.
Earlier in the day, speaking at a programme organized at Chandragutti village in his native Sorab taluk, Madhu lashed out at his brother for continuing to haunt even after the death of his father. “Kumar Bangarpapa always created tensions for us when my father was alive. He continues to bother us even now. He levelled various allegations against my father when he was alive. After he died, Kumar made fake claims of discharging duties of the eldest son. If he had affection towards my father, he should have remained by the side of the latter during his last days and obeyed his advice,” he felt. Madhu also claimed that Congress and BJP stabilized their positions in the state because of Bangarappa’s contributions.
