New Delhi, Apr 15: In a significant move to enhance employment generation through public-private partnerships, the ministry of Labor and Employment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with food delivery giant Swiggy. The partnership is aimed at streamlining job access and manpower sourcing via the government’s National Career Service (NCS) portal.

The collaboration comes as part of a wider initiative by the ministry to partner with private agencies to bridge the gap between workforce demand and supply. Swiggy, which operates in over 500 cities, has already listed nearly five crore job opportunities on its platform.

Union Minister for Labour and Environment, Mansukh Mandaviya, described the NCS portal as an emerging one-stop platform for job seekers and employers alike. “With over 31 crore individuals registered on the Shram portal, this integration with Swiggy will enable employers to directly locate skilled manpower for example, 50 civil engineers within a 50-km radius of Noida without relying on external advertisements,” he said.

Mandaviya noted that the NCS portal would revolutionise the recruitment process. “Employers can log in, enter their requirements, and instantly identify matching candidates. This is a game-changer for India’s labour market,” he said, adding that Swiggy alone is expected to create between 10 and 12 lakh new job opportunities over the next two to three years.

He further revealed that more such partnerships are on the horizon, with the ultimate goal of making the NCS portal a global leader in workforce solutions. “The aim is to empower millions with dignified jobs while ensuring employers get access to the talent they need,” he remarked.

Salbh Srivastava, operations in-charge at Swiggy, expressed enthusiasm about the tie-up. “Swiggy has generated lakhs of jobs over the past decade, and this partnership with the NCS will help us scale up our hiring significantly. It allows us to tap into a larger pool of skilled workers and contribute more meaningfully to national employment,” he said.

Srivastava affirmed that Swiggy is committed to leveraging the NCS platform to create 10 to 12 lakh new employment opportunities across the country in the coming years.

The MoU signals a strong convergence of technology and employment services, with a focus on creating a more efficient, inclusive, and accessible labor ecosystem in India.
