Udupi: Daily wager's daughter Manya excels in II PUC exams scoring 95.16%

Udupi, April 8: The results of the 2024-25 second-year Pre-University Course (PUC) examinations were announced on Tuesday, April 8.

While many students are celebrating their success, others are reflecting on how they could have performed better. This year’s results have once again proven that success is not reserved for the privileged. Children of daily wage labourers and truck drivers have topped the state, demonstrating that dedication and hard work can overcome all obstacles.

One such inspiring story is that of Manya S Poojary, a student at Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple Pre-University College, Mandarthi, in Udupi district. Manya, who lost her father at a young age, achieved an impressive 95.16% in the II PUC exams, making her mother’s sacrifices truly worthwhile.

Manya’s mother works as a daily wage labourer at a cashew factory and has been supporting the education of both her daughters. Despite not attending any private tuition, Manya relied solely on her college lecturers for guidance, dedicating herself to self-study and hard work.

Her exceptional performance has earned her the top rank in the commerce stream at her college. Manya now plans to pursue Chartered Accountancy (CA) and has already taken the first step in that direction.

The principal, teaching, and non-teaching staff of Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple PU College have all congratulated Manya for her achievements, which have brought immense pride to both her family and the institution.

Manya’s story is a powerful reminder that determination, resilience, and the support of loved ones can help overcome even the most challenging of circumstances.

Congratulations first of all. Also I request people who are more privilèged either in business circles or political circles to come forward and help these families in their children's studies, so that these talented students will abandon their dreams for lack of finances. One can imagine how much pain this girl must have taken to reach this level. I hope rich will will use small part of their money for such noble causes.
