Hyderabad, Mar 14: In a significant political development, actress-turned-politician Vijayashanthi and actor Naga Babu have been elected unopposed as Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, along with eight others.
The announcement came after the nomination deadline passed, with no opposing candidates filing papers. The unopposed elections highlight the political influence of major parties in the legislative councils of both states.

Vijayashanthi, a well-known political figure, secured her seat in Telangana, while Naga Babu, brother of actor-politician Pawan Kalyan, was elected from Andhra Pradesh. Several other nominees from leading political parties also won their seats without contest.
Election officials have formally declared the results, and the newly elected members are set to take office soon. The development reflects the strategic seat-sharing agreements among political parties in the Telugu states.
