Srinivas University organises guest lecture on ‘IFRS: Enhancing global accounting knowledge’

Mangaluru, Mar 7: Institute of Management and Commerce department of B Com organised a guest lecture on the topic "Unlocking IFRS: A pathway to understanding global accounting standards" which was conducted on March 5 (Wednesday) at the ACCA classroom. The session was exclusively organised for first-year ACCA students to enhance their understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

The resource person for the session was Prof Revathi Radhakrishnan, assistant professor at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Ernakulam. She provided a comprehensive introduction to IFRS, emphasising its importance in global accounting.

The session also highlighted key differences between Indian Accounting Standards and IFRS, discussing certain methods that are unique to Indian accounting and not considered in IFRS. The session included practical examples to give students a clear understanding of the subject.

The session was particularly beneficial as it covered core concepts in financial accounting, aligning with the F3 subject in the ACCA curriculum. Students gained valuable insights into the practical applications of IFRS and its relevance in the global financial landscape.

The event was successfully organised under the guidance of Dr Venkatesh S Amin, dean, IMC, Prof Sharmila S Shetty, HOD of the B Com department, Prof Yashashwi A Ail, ACCA course coordinator, Prof Prathijna K, guest lecture coordinator, and all faculty members of the B Com department.

The programme was hosted by student Sinchana Hegde and concluded with a vote of thanks by student Kiran.

The guest talk was highly informative and helped students build a strong foundation in IFRS, preparing them for their future careers in accounting and finance.
