Udupi: Police seize 3 Dubai-registered luxury cars in Manipal

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (JD)

Udupi, March 1: Three luxury cars with Dubai registration were seized by police in Manipal after complaints from the public about their loud noise.

The vehicles, owned by three Kerala-origin youths living in Dubai—Sulaiman Mohammed (26), Mohammed Sharif (27), and Abdul Nazir (25)—were reportedly brought to India for six months of travel.

The trio imported the high-end Dodge vehicles by ship, paying Rs 30 lac in taxes in Dubai and Rs 1 crore in India. They had come to Manipal to attend a party hosted by their friends. However, the deafening noise from the cars caught the attention of locals and the police, resulting in the seizure of the vehicles.

The documents of the cars have been forwarded to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) for verification.

The Manipal police have sought clarification from the RTO regarding the legality of operating Dubai-registered vehicles on Indian roads.

Further action will be taken based on the RTO’s report.

These cars should only be allowed to burn out or make noise in specific events and times and places whenever they are invited. Rest of the time they can ride on roads following all the Motor Laws of India. However, sadly it is due to one's jealousy as well who make exaggerating complaints against people. This is the ugly truth of Indian Society. One cannot have rest without complaining or bringing down someone else. Let the Police decide and hopefully see what's correct here.

It looks like they have paid taxes wherever required. These luxury cars surely have options to reduce noise, but after spending an exorbitant amount on them, these rich boys definitely crave public attention. They are undoubtedly on the wrong side of the law, but they will likely get away with paying fines—officially or otherwise. As for the common man’s concerns about the legality of their earnings, one can earn substantial wealth through business, especially in Dubai, where taxes are minimal. So, dear common man, think big—or remain a common man.
