Mumbai, Mar 3: Acting on a state government directive, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has initiated work on 17 delayed Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) projects across Mumbai.
Among them, the Sai Baba Housing Society in Jogeshwari has received a Letter of Intent (LOI), while documentation is underway for the remaining projects, MHADA vice-president and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal confirmed. To expedite redevelopment, tenders will soon be invited for the first project, followed by tenders for the others.

In coordination with the SRA, MHADA has withdrawn eight stalled projects from original developers under Section 13(2) of the Slum Rehabilitation Act. These include 12 projects in Goregaon, two in Bandra, five in Kurla, and two in Borivali/Dahisar. Feasibility studies are ongoing for five more projects on MHADA-owned land.
With these efforts, MHADA aims to create nearly 25,000 additional housing units, ensuring accommodation for project-affected residents.
