Agra, Feb 28: In a distressing incident reminiscent of the Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash’s suicide last December, a 30-year-old IT professional from Agra ended his life, leaving behind a video accusing his wife of being responsible for his extreme step.
The deceased, identified as Manav Sharma, was a resident of Defence Colony, Agra, and worked as a manager in a Mumbai-based tech firm. He had married Niketa on January 30 last year. Manav reportedly took the drastic step in the early hours of February 24.

According to reports, Manav and his wife had traveled to Agra on February 23. He later accompanied Niketa to her parental home, where he was allegedly insulted. Following this, he returned home and took his life by hanging himself around 5 am on February 24.
Before ending his life, Manav recorded a video on his mobile phone, holding his wife responsible for his suffering. The video has since gone viral on social media.
Following a complaint from the deceased’s father, Narendra Sharma, Agra police have registered a case under Section 108 (abetment of suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Reacting to the allegations, Niketa released a counter-video, claiming that Manav had a history of abusive behavior, particularly under the influence of alcohol. She also alleged that he had made multiple suicide attempts in the past, which she had prevented.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vinayak Bhosale stated that Manav’s post-mortem was conducted on February 24, but no formal complaint was lodged at that time. It was only after Manav’s sister found the video on his phone that a case was registered.
"We will take Niketa’s statement into account as well and proceed with the investigation accordingly," ACP Bhosale said, acknowledging that the couple’s relationship had been strained.
The incident has drawn parallels with the suicide of Atul Subhash in Bengaluru on December 9, 2024. Subhash, too, had recorded a video before ending his life, accusing his estranged wife of harassment.
