Patna, Feb 28 : A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal in the early hours of Friday, causing tremors in several districts of Bihar, including Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, and other areas along the Indo-Nepal border.
According to Umesh Kumar Singh, meteorologist at Bihar’s Disaster Management Department (DMD), the quake was recorded at around 2:35 am, with its epicenter in Nepal’s Bagmati region. “The tremors lasted for a few seconds but were felt strongly in bordering districts,” he said.
Officials confirmed that there have been no reports of casualties or damage to property. The earthquake was experienced in multiple districts, including Patna, Gopalganj, Saran, Siwan, West Champaran, and East Champaran.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, though no immediate emergency measures were required.
