Bantwal: Burglary at vegetable shop in Melkar, money from donation box stolen

Bantwal, Feb 2: A burglary took place at a vegetable shop in Melkar on the night of Friday, January 31, with miscreants breaking in and stealing cash.

The thieves broke the lock of Chandrika Vegetable Shop, owned by Mohammad Sharif, and searched for money.

Sharif, a social service worker, had placed a donation box in his shop to support the development of a government school. The burglars stole the money collected in the box.

It is estimated that the donation box contained over Rs 5,000. CCTV footage reportedly captured the theft.
