Mangaluru: Rosario Institutions’ annual sports meet celebrates unity, sportsmanship

Mangaluru, Dec 15: The annual sports meet of Rosario Institutions was held on December 14, 2024, at the school grounds, marking a day of enthusiasm and competition.

The event began with the inauguration ceremony, during which the school flag was unfurled, and pigeons were released. The sports lamp, blessed by Fr Valerian Frank at Rosario Cathedral, was carried by the athletes and handed over to the president, symbolizing the commencement of the meet.

In his address, Latheef highlighted the importance of respecting teachers and the institution, emphasizing their role in shaping students' lives and fostering all-round development. He also stressed the significance of consistent hard work in achieving success.

Fr Alfred John Pinto, Correspondent of Rosario Institutions, delivered the presidential address, underscoring the importance of self-esteem and self-discipline for personal success. He wished the athletes the best for the competition.

The day's events kicked off with a parade by the students, followed by various athletic competitions. Jacintha Moras, headmistress of Rosario High School, welcomed the gathering, while Mavis Serao, headmistress of Rosario Higher Primary School, proposed the vote of thanks. Jenevieve D'Souza compered the event.

In the evening, the closing ceremony took place, where individual champions were felicitated. The event was a grand success, led by Physical Director Mr Clement D'Souza.

The ceremony was attended by the heads of the institution, staff, and students. The program concluded with the national anthem, the ceremonial lowering of the flag, and the extinguishing of the sports lamp, marking the end of the memorable event.
