Kundapur, Oct 31: In a grand celebration of Kannada culture, Kundapur recently held a lively Rathotsava, coinciding with the recognition of eight Kannada writers with the prestigious Jnanpith Award. The event, attended by current and former legislators, showcased the richness of the Kannada language and its cultural heritage. Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Kota Srinivas Poojari lauded the efforts of the Kala Kshetra Trust in promoting Kannada.
Organized by the Kala Kshetra Kundapura Trust and various local organizations, the Rathotsava took place at the Government Pre-University College grounds during the Kannada Habba and Rajyotsava week. Poojari emphasized the importance of the event in uniting the community.
Former MLA B Appanna Hegde described the celebration as a pivotal moment in Kundapura's history. "It is our responsibility to promote Kannada and preserve its rich legacy," he stated, urging collective action to elevate the language and culture.
The event saw participation from numerous local dignitaries, including legislators Sunil Kumar and Kiran Kumar Kodgi, and various community leaders. Kishore Kumar, President of the Kala Kshetra Trust, welcomed the guests and highlighted the significance of the occasion.
Participants included students from local colleges, scouts and guides, and members of various community groups, all contributing to the festive atmosphere. The procession featured beautifully decorated carts and cultural performances, including the Sagara Dollu dance and rice pounding songs, celebrating the spirit of Kannada in a vibrant display of unity and pride.
