Mangaluru, Nov 21: JCI Padubidri is all set to host the much-anticipated ‘Coastal Carnival Padubidri 2024’ as part of its 50th-year celebrations. The three-day festival, running from November 22 to 24, will be held at the scenic Blue Flag beach and Padubidri beach.
Organized in collaboration with Udupi Tourism and the district administration, the event aims to promote sports, tourism, and cultural harmony, while supporting local businesses and boosting the regional economy.
Event highlights:
November 22
• Soft launch of food and trade fair: Explore a variety of stalls offering local delicacies and trade opportunities.
• Amusement games: Open for public entertainment throughout the day.
November 23
• 7:00 AM: 4th National Junior Open Water Swimming Championship
Organized by the Swimming Federation of India in partnership with the department of youth empowerment and sports, government of Karnataka. The championship, held over two days, features swimmers aged 12 to 60 competing in distances from 500 meters to 10 kilometers.
• 6:00 PM: Inauguration of Coastal Carnival Padubidri 2024
Chief guest: Mankala Vaidya, minister for fisheries and ports, government of Karnataka.
• 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM: Local talent show: A showcase of local performers on the main stage.
• 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM: Live music by Coastal Rifusion Band
November 24
• 7:00 AM: Bale Balipuga: 3K barefoot beach run
Participants will race along the pristine Blue Flag beach, followed by a prize distribution ceremony.
• 5:00 PM: JCI Padubidri 50th year celebration official programme
Presided by Sanjeet Yermal, president, JCI Padubidri 2024.
Chief guest: S Ravishankar, chairman, JCI India Administrative Committee.
• 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM: Cultural programme
A captivating performance by the Alvas Foundation Moodbidri team.
Other activities:
Throughout the carnival, visitors can enjoy:
• Beach kabaddi, tug of war, fishing competition, and a sand art contest.
• Over 50 food stalls offering diverse culinary delights.
• Trade stalls showcasing local businesses.
• A special amusement games zone for all age groups.
Expected attendance:
The carnival is expected to attract over 50,000 visitors, making it a vibrant celebration of sports, culture, and community spirit.
