Mangaluru: CCB police arrest one for ganja trafficking

Mangaluru, Oct 4: In a successful operation, the city crime branch (CCB) police arrested an individual involved in the transportation and sale of ganja, a banned narcotic substance. The authorities seized 4 kg of ganja during the operation.

The arrested individual has been identified as Abutahir alias Anwar (25), a resident of Goliangadi House in Kukkedi village, Beltangady taluk. Acting on a tip-off, the CCB police apprehended him in the Padil area under the jurisdiction of Kankanady town police station while he was illegally transporting the narcotic on a two-wheeler.

The police confiscated 4 kg of ganja valued at Rs 1 lac, along with the two-wheeler and a mobile phone. The estimated total value of the seized goods is around Rs 1.75 lac. A case has been registered at the Kankanady town police station.

The operation was led by CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Naik, with the participation of inspector Shyam Sundar H M, PSI Narendra, ASI Mohan K V, and officers Ram Poojary and Sujan Shetty, along with CCB staff.

    If the police worked sincerely, they could dismantle the entire ganja trafficking operation within a week, but corruption prevents them from doing so. To appease the public, they occasionally arrest small-time suppliers here and there.
