Udupi: Man injured by fallen power line in July succumbs

Udupi, Sep 30: Shashidhar Shetty (42), a resident of Kunjarugiri and employee of Manipal Press Unit 5, who was injured when a power line snapped and fell on him while riding his scooter in July, passed away on September 27 in a private hospital in Manipal.

He is survived by his mother, wife, and son. Shetty had been employed at Manipal Press for the past 17 years.

In July, he was severely injured while riding his scooter in the Manipal industrial area when an electricity wire snapped and fell on him.

He had been in the ICU at Manipal Hospital since the incident.

    This power distribution company, one of the worst, should be sued for a multi CR suit for it's negligence & sloppy work which led to an innocents death; so many innocent people perish due to this company's third rate infrastructure and equipment despite charging extremely high charges for it's services!

    MESCOM should compensate his death to the tune of Rs. 50 Lakhs by way of blood money due to their callousness.
