Mangaluru: St Aloysius ITI organizes inauguration of new academic year

Mangaluru, Aug 30: The inauguration of new academic year and student council was held at St Aloysius Industrial training institute on August 30 at SAITI Auditorium.

Fr John D’Souza SJ - director, St Aloysius ITI was the president of the programme. John Monteiro - president, Rachana Catholic Chamber of commerce & industry was the chief guest and Nagaraj K L - principal, Govt ITI, Perdoor was the guest of honour. Roshan D’Souza - principal; Alwyn Menezes - vice principal; Noel Lobo - training officer; Wilson N - newly appointed TO and convener of the programme were present.

The programme commenced with a prayer song. Students welcomed the gathering by a graceful welcome dance. Wilson N, convener of the programme escorted the dignitaries to the dais. Roshan D’Souza - principal welcomed the gathering.

The inauguration of the academic year and student council was inaugurated by lighting the lamp.

In an attempt to support the academically weaker students and bring them to the mainstream education, St Aloysius ITI is offering free SSLC coaching to the failed students. Dhanraj was felicitated for his dedicated service as a mentor for these students and helping them to clear the SSLC exam.

The installation ceremony of new office bearers and the oath taking ceremony was led by Wilson N, training officer for the newly elected student council members.

The newly elected student council members are as follows:

President - Darshan S, MRAC 2nd year
Vice president - Vishal D’Souza, MMV 2nd year
Lady vice president - Navyalaxmi, electronic mechanic 2nd year
Secretary - Navya B Shetty, electronic mechanic 1st year
Joint secretary - Gujarn Shashank S Chandra, mechanic diesel
Sports secretary - Terren Andrade, MRAC 2nd year
Joint sports secretary - Aarthik J S, mechanic diesel
Cultural secretary - Prajith B, electrician 2nd year
Joint cultural secretary - Vishwas Hallikeri, MRAC 1st year

Addressing the gathering chief guest John Monteiro said, “Today is the new beginning to your life. Congratulations to you all for joining this esteemed institution. Many have reached greater heights in their life after studying in St Aloysius Institution. You have stepped into a new chapter of your life. You will learn multi skills. Apart from academics you will also learn life skills which will be helpful for your personal and professional development. Success will be achieved only if you work hard. You may face many ups and downs in your life but stay focused to achieve your goal. You have two choices in ITI after studying: take employment or give employment. You should be ever grateful to the institution that you have studied.”

Guest of honour Nagaraj K L addressed and said, “Today is a special occasion. To achieve in your life, remember the three key factors love, success and wealth. In a class a teacher may scold you and it may hurt you, but remember PAIN means Positive Attitude in Negative Situation. You will get many opportunities in this institution. Participate in all the activities actively and use all the opportunities positively.”

In his presidential address Fr John D’Souza SJ said, “A teacher is like a friend, mother, father, sister and brother. You have to always dream about your goals and you have to try to achieve them.”

Wilson N, convener of the programme proposed a vote of thanks.
