Mangaluru, Aug 28: A one-day national-level fest for pre-university students will be inaugurated on Saturday, August 31, at 9 am at the LCRI Hall, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru.
The distinguished alumnus of the University, Manvitha Kamath, a Sandalwood actress known for her roles in Kendasampige, Tagaru etc will be the chief guest of the programme. Seira Felix will be the guest of honour, and her book, 'A Cry Heard as a Song,' will be launched during the programme. Fr Melwyn Pinto, Rector of Aloysius Institutions, will preside over the ceremony.
The fest will be conducted in two categories: 'Festival of Fests' and 'Cultural Fest.' The 'Festival of Fests' will include 31 various academic events across different disciplines such as Arts, Commerce, BCA, Science, BBA, BVoc, and a Science exhibition. The 'Cultural Fest' will feature 6 events, including All-rounder, classical dance, face painting, mehendi, variety entertainment, and Wealth out of Waste. It is a great opportunity for PUC students to display their talents. Around 1,000 students from various colleges are expected to participate in the event.
The valedictory programme will be held on August 31 at 4 pm. Kanyana Sadashiv Shetty, an alumnus of the University and a distinguished entrepreneur and industrialist, will be the chief guest for the program. Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, the vice chancellor of the University, will preside over the programme. The prize distribution for all the events will take place during the valedictory ceremony. Overall winners and runners-up trophies will be awarded to the best-performing colleges in both categories.
