Mangaluru, Aug 14: Nitte Institute of Hospitality Services successfully hosted Aati, a traditional Tulunadu celebration aimed at preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the region. The event drew enthusiastic participation from eight prominent Pre-University colleges, with students competing in a variety of cultural and creative contests.

The event was a vibrant showcase of Tulunadu’s heritage, featuring competitions in Cooking, Poster Making, Dance, Singing, and Reel Making. Each contest embodied the cultural essence of Tulunadu, allowing participants to creatively express themselves while staying deeply connected to the region's traditions.

The cooking competition spotlighted traditional Tulunadu recipes, with participants impressing judges by preparing dishes that captured the authentic flavors of the region. In the Poster Making competition, students artistically depicted the cultural symbols and values of Tulunadu, while the Dance and Singing competitions brought the land’s rhythms and melodies to life. The Reel Making competition, a modern addition, provided a platform for students to creatively portray the essence of Aati and Tulunadu’s traditions through short videos.

The event was graced by chief guests Taranath Gatti Kapkad, Umar U H, and Joachim Stany Alvares, who emphasized the importance of cultural preservation and praised the students for their efforts in keeping Tulunadu's traditions alive. Dr Chef Dhiraj Pathak, principal of Nitte Institute of Hospitality Services, welcomed the participants and underscored the significance of understanding and embracing our cultural roots.

The celebration concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners from each competition were recognized for their outstanding performances. The event not only provided a platform for students to showcase their talents but also deepened their connection to Tulunadu’s cultural heritage.
