Mangaluru, Aug 10: On August 8, an AI-enabled contactless oral examination kiosk was inaugurated, which was acquired by Manipal College of Dental Sciences (MCODS). This cutting-edge kiosk, one of its kind in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, aims to revolutionise oral healthcare by providing users with easy access to advanced dental diagnostics and care, all without the need for physical contact.
Dr Ashita Uppoor, dean, MCODS, Mangaluru welcomed the gathering and mentioned that it was a proud moment for the college to acquire this technology which is one of its kind in Dakshina Kannada.
She emphasised the importance of blending advanced technology with traditional dental practices to enhance patient care and outcomes. She acknowledged the significant impact that ScanO will have on the field, setting a new benchmark for excellence and innovation in dental diagnostics.
Dr Anand Venugopal, the COO of teaching hospitals, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), graced the event as the chief guest. He highlighted how this AI-powered platform, with its state-of-the-art contactless kiosk, represents a significant step in making dental diagnostics more efficient and accessible.
Dr Venugopal expressed his confidence that ScanO will greatly assist healthcare professionals by streamlining the diagnostic process and enhancing the overall quality of care.
The presiding officer, Dr Dilip G Naik, pro-vice chancellor, MAHE, Mangaluru campus, emphasised on the remarkable features of ScanO, including real-time diagnostics and anintuitive user interface. Dr Naik highlighted that MCODS, Mangaluru, has consistently been at the vanguard of adopting cutting-edge technology to provide superior patient care.
Dr Unnikrishnan, dean, Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Mangaluru commended the innovative ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ spirit behind ScanO, emphasising its potential to transform oral health services. Dr Unnikrishnan’s remarks underscored the importance of integrating artificial intelligence with human intelligence in healthcare to achieve better outcomes and improve patient experiences.
Dr Chakrapani, medical superintendent of Kasturba Hospital, Attavar, expressed his happiness at the addition of this valuable healthcare tool to both KMC Attavar and MCODS Mangaluru. He highlighted the portable and effective technology of ScanO, emphasising on accessibility and quality of oral healthcare services.
Dr Vidhi Bhanushali, CEO and co-founder of ScanO, highlighted key features and benefits of the AI platform. She explained how AI screening educates patients about their intraoral health She noted that patients increasingly prefer clinics that embrace digital technologies. Dr Bhanushali highlighted the speed and efficiency of ScanO, with reports being sent to users' phones almost instantaneously, ensuring prompt and informed healthcare decisions.
Dr Junaid Ahmed, associate dean, MCODS Mangaluru thanked the gathering and requested everyone to disseminate information on ScanO AI-based technology and maximise its reach among the general public and spread awareness on the importance of oral health for overall health.
