Shivamogga, Jul 15: On July 14, Christ the King Church in Jogfalls hosted the Vianney Deanery Teens Meet organized by the Youth Commission diocese of Shimoga, gathering over 80 young students and 15 animators.
The Joga ICYM local committee ensured the event's success. Fr Salvador Rodrigues, parish priest of Christ the King Church, Jogfalls, opened the event with a prayer. Fr Franklin D'Souza, the Shimoga diocesan YCS/YSM chaplain, delivered an inspiring keynote address, setting the tone for the day's activities.
Jesvita D'Souza, the Karnataka regional YCS/YSM president, shared her personal journey and the transformative impact of the YCS/YSM movement.
The day concluded with the holy eucharist, emphasizing YCS/YSM values. Participants were then treated to an excursion to Jogfalls, allowing them to experience the YCS/YSM methodology first hand. This exploration not only fostered camaraderie but also deepened their understanding of the movement's values. The event provided an invaluable opportunity for all attendees to connect, learn, and grow within the YCS/YSM community.
YCS/YSM lady animator - Sr Treesa Lidiya, YCS /YSM vice-president Anisha Rodrigues, YCS YSM regional president Jesvita D'Souza, YCS/YSM regional representative Samson D'Souza, YCS/YSM diocesan secretary Alvina Dias were part of the organising committee.
On behalf of diocesan team of students (DTS) Jesvita D'Souza thanked Fr Salvador Rodrigues, parish priest for allowing us to organise the teens program. She also thanked ICYM president Noel and his team for their love and support.
Fr Franklin D’Souza, took over diocesan youth ministry on June 15. This is the first mega programme organised by Yuvamitra - Shimoga Diocesan Youth Commission under his leadership. Young people felicitated Fr Franklin D’Souza as he celebrated his sacerdotal silver jubilee celebration this year.
