Udupi, Jun 3: “BJP has bribed the voters by distributing Rs 2000 to every house in Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, and Kodagu regions for the Teachers and Graduates Constituency election 2024,” said South-West Graduate constituency independent candidate Raghupati Bhat.
Addressing the media after casting his vote, Raghupati Bhat said, “Distributing money and bribing voters for votes happened for the first time in the Teachers and Graduates Constituency election. Congress has never bribed the voters, and this time too, it has not happened.
“I have faith in winning this election, as voters have decided to vote for me. I also wish for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to continue his power. There never was a ritual of distributing money for the Legislative Assembly election, but it happened in the Shivamogga election. Believing that we can win votes by distributing money is a big lie, which can be proven in this election. A clip from a private television channel falsely asserting my withdrawal from the election was circulated.
“My fellows in BJP are supporting me in this election. After the election, I will return to BJP and celebrate the victory. Our honourable Prime Minister should win with the maximum votes, and Kota Srinivas Poojary in Udupi and Capt Brijesh Chowta in Mangaluru should win the election. I hope BJP wins all 28 positions,” he said.
