Mangaluru, May 28: St Aloysius English Medium School Urwa took a significant step in integrating cutting-edge technology into its educational framework by hosting an AI orientation programme.
The event was part of a broader teacher orientation initiative held in preparation for the upcoming academic year. Led by the distinguished Fr Anil Ivan Fernandes, director, Canara Communication Centre and AI coach, the programme saw enthusiastic participation from the school’s faculty. Fr Benjamin Pinto, the correspondence of the school inaugurated the AI workshop by lighting the lamp.
The programme began with a prayer led by teacher Shanthi Lobo, setting a reflective tone for the sessions. Headmaster Aloysius Dsouza welcomed everyone, underscoring the school’s dedication to adopting innovative educational practices.
A moving prayer song performed by teachers Rosy D'Souza, Laveena Correa, Shanthi Lobo, Laveena Pinto, Roshni Dsouza, and Anitha D'Souza added a spirit of unity to the occasion.
Teacher Premilla Tauro, acting as the master of ceremonies, introduced Fr Anil Ivan Fernandes. Known for his expertise in education and technology, Fr Fernandes delved into the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing educational practices.
The session was highly interactive, featuring practical demonstrations and hands-on activities that enabled educators to explore AI-powered tools and platforms relevant to their teaching needs, especially preparing lesson plans, preparing engaging presentations instantly, and generating audio-video and visuals for teaching resources, chat boat for active engagement and evaluation etc. This approach fostered a collaborative environment conducive to learning and professional growth.
As the event concluded, teacher Laveena Dcunha thanked Fr Anil Ivan Fernandes for his insightful presentation and guidance. Teacher Laveena Correa also expressed gratitude on behalf of all attendees, acknowledging his pivotal role in their professional development.
The AI orientation programme ended on an inspiring note, equipping the educators of St Aloysius English Medium School with new knowledge and tools to innovate and transform their teaching methods as they embark on the new academic year.
