Beltangady, May 14: A veterinary doctor allegedly assaulted a man who was suffering from fever, resulting in the man's collapse and death at Jodumarga Circle in Kokkada village on Monday evening May 13.
The deceased, Krishna alias Kitta (58), a resident of Petrame village, had been admitted to Puttur Hospital due to high fever. As his health improved, he was discharged from the hospital and traveled to Kokkada by bus. It is reported that Krishna met Dr Kumar, a veterinary doctor he knew, in Kokkada. Dr Kumar allegedly asked Krishna why he had been discharged so early, as he still had a fever and should have stayed until fully recovered. During the conversation, it is alleged that Dr Kumar hit Krishna, who immediately collapsed and died within moments.
It is unclear whether Krishna died due to his fever or from the blow inflicted by the doctor. Dharmasthala police station officer Samarth and his team visited the scene and sent the body to Deralakatte Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
