Bengaluru, Apr 10: St Joseph's University, Bengaluru, successfully conducted its 24-hour IT Hackathon called ‘Tech Quest’ on April 5 and 6. Led by dean Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, Dr BG Prashanthi and Prem Sagar, the event attracted 24 teams of motivated students and professionals from around the country. Generous sponsorship came from well-known brands Unibic, Wonderla, Danil Vilov and SS Fashions, offering catering, amusement park tickets, clothing items and branded merchandise, supporting participants throughout the intensive 24-hour challenge.
During the event, teams took up challenges connected to Fintech and Healthcare, exhibiting great inventiveness and technical acumen while addressing genuine concerns. An expert panel made up of faculty members, industry experts and domain specialists examined entries based on categories like innovation, functionality and possible impacts. Winning teams claimed portions of a reward fund amounting to Rs 20000, presented at the climactic closing ceremony.
Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, reflecting on the achievements of the participants, conveyed admiration for their abundant talent and drive. Encouraged by the pioneering accomplishments, Fr Lobo endorsed the essence of sound coding practices, echoing sentiments voiced by Tim Cook, CEO of Apple. According to Fr Lobo, developing robust coding skills empowers creators to formulate enhanced software designs and sharpen mental capacities.
