Udupi, Apr 4: The Scout, Guides, Cubs and Bulbuls of St Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School (CBSE) eagerly participated in one day camp conducted on April 1 in the school premises.
Sumana Shekhar, assistant state organizing commissioner BSG Udupi, was the chief guest of the day. Vitesh was the resource person. Programme commenced with a prayer song and followed by lighting the lamp of knowledge and wisdom.
Cub leader Jyothi welcomed the gathering. The chief guest in her speech highlighted that scouting and guiding helps in building confidence and self esteem among students. They can learn important life skills, team building, outdoor adventure and fun. It also helps to explore, to discover theworld beyond classroom and helps in all round development.
Principal Sr Lathika blessed and wished for the success of the camp.
Resource person Vitesh demonstrated first aid and its uses through interactive session.Appropriate first aid could mean the difference between life and death. So by undertaking first aid training, we can do a bit to help others and learn a valuable new skill.
Teaching knot tying is not an extra curricular activity, it is a core skill that not only builds capacity and competence which allows more elaborate play to ensue, but also contributes to the development of required skills like reading,writing, spelling and problem solving.
Scouts and guides overwhelmed and enjoyed the knots and its uses in their daily lives.
To develop critical skill and to develop a sense of the reasonableness estimation concept was taught which can be used in real life situation.
Use of compass and direction was taught to the students as it provides one with the sense of independence and confidence, knowing that we can travel in the world without being dependent on technology and limited battery power.
Games are fantastic for learning at any age, but particularly important for young learners. Research has shown that games are essential for healthy development in early childhood and beyond. Keeping this in mind this concept was recreated through different games.
Flameless cooking methods consume less energy and produce fewer emissions, which is beneficial for the environment. Cooking without fire competition was held to highlight the use of nutritious food. The Cubs, Bulbuls, Scouts & Guides participated enthusiastically.
