Mangaluru, Feb 24: The guides, scouts, bulbuls and cubs of Carmel School, Mangaluru celebrated World Thinking Day 2024 on February 22.
World Thinking Day is celebrated annually on February 22 by all girl guides and girl scouts. It is also celebrated by scout and guide organisations around the world as a day, where they think about their 'sisters' (and 'brothers') in all the countries of the world, the meaning of guiding, and its global impact.
February 22 was chosen as it was the birthday of scouting and guiding founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell and Lady Olave Baden-Powell, his wife and world chief guide. Other scouts celebrate it as Baden-Powell Day or Founders' Day.
The programme began with a 'Sarwa Dharma Prayer' invoking God's blessings on the gathering. Guide students welcomed the audience with a dance, followed by welcome speech delivered by Dimple.
The significance of the day was shared by Shrenik of class 6 C. This year's theme 'OUR WORLD OUR THRIVING FUTURE' was epitomized through a short skit.
The student cubs and scouts also sang a motivational song.
The resource person, Felcy Zeena Fernandes conveyed her message and enthusiastically performed activities with the students.
Anshika of class 3C proposed the words of gratitude. Rishtha and Giana of class 5C compered the programme. The programme culminated with the national anthem.
