Mangaluru: St Agnes CBSE School celebrates International Mother Language Day

Mangaluru, Feb 23: A skilled language acts as a channel for expressing a range of messages and concepts. The influence of a person's mother tongue significantly influences the early learning process, enhancing communication skills and confidence.

To mark this special occasion, students from St Agnes School CBSE, in grades 1 and 3, presented an elaborate programme on February 20 in the school auditorium. The event sought to educate the audience about the diversity of languages and their cultural significance.

The day commenced with the divine touch of the meaningful prayer service in multilanguage.

A chivalrous welcome was presented weaving an amalgam of grandeur and unity in the Manipuri language. A folk dance on different languages of India and a Skit on ‘To find Pandit’s Mother Language’ was well performed adding grace to the occasion.

The rhythmic touch of the students singing in various foreign languages was of great attraction. The morning school assembly was conducted adding flavours of various languages.

Sr Sweedal Fernandes AC, the academic coordinator of the school, lauded the students for their outstanding and meaningful performance. She encouraged them to delve into learning multiple languages, underscoring the significance of preserving their mother tongue. Additionally, she inspired the students to engage with songs and music from various languages.

At the school, a range of activities were arranged for students from grades 1 to 8. These included performances of nature-themed songs in their native languages, daily conversations in their mother tongues, elocution contests cantered on the roots of their native languages, and value-based role-playing sessions held in their mother languages.

The event was led by Haleema Zara, Sarah Sequeira, and Mohammed Saad. Shaan welcomed the attendees warmly, and Kaelyn Princia Misquith expressed gratitude for the lively participation in her vote of thanks.
