Abu Dhabi, Feb 12: In a significant achievement, the Manglorean Team has played a pivotal role in establishing the inaugural BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Scheduled to open its doors on Wednesday, February 14, the temple stands as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the team, consisting of Jesh Bayar, San Poojari, Ashwini Santhosh, Rakesh Suvarna, Yashwitha Rakesh, Rajesh Kuthar, Sachin Padil, Vignesh Bangera, Anshul Karkera, Reshma, and Dhanraj.
Expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to this momentous project, the team underscores the honor bestowed upon them. The Mangalorean Team worked closely with Temple Swamiji, who provided valuable insights on the temple intricacies and granted them the privilege to work within the garba gudi.
The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, the largest temple in West Asia, has a grandeur reflected in its towering dimensions—108 feet in height, 262 feet in length, and 180 feet in width. The architectural marvel includes two ghumats (domes), seven shikars (spires) symbolizing the seven Emirates in the UAE, 12 samrans, and 402 pillars. The temple's aesthetic features exquisite marble carvings against a sandstone building backdrop.
Constructed at a cost of 400 million dirhams on a sprawling 27-acre site, the mandir incorporates over 25,000 expertly crafted stone pieces from skilled artisans in India. Each shikar showcases intricate carvings depicting tales from Hindu scriptures and the lives of revered deities.
The temple complex encompasses essential elements of a traditional Hindu mandir, serving as a fully functional, social, cultural, and spiritual hub. Visitors can explore the visitor center, prayer halls, exhibitions, learning areas, a dedicated sports area for children, thematic gardens, water features, a food court, and a books and gift shop.
In addition to its structural magnificence, the mandir prioritizes safety and stability with 100 sensors in its foundation and over 350 sensors throughout the structure, providing valuable data on earthquake activity, temperature fluctuations, and pressure changes. Environmentally friendly practices have been incorporated, such as utilizing recycled wooden pallets for benches, tables, and chairs in the food court. A magnificent waterfall feature symbolizes the origin of the three holy rivers - Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati.
The visionary behind this project is Mahant Swami Maharaj, with the completion date set for February 14, 2024. The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi not only stands as a symbol of cultural and spiritual richness but also as a testament to the collaborative efforts of the Mangalorean Team and the global community that contributed to its realization.
