Mangaluru, Dec 23: On the occasion of Christmas, the students of second commerce hosted a programme on December 23 to celebrate God’s love.

The celebration began with a prayer song and followed by welcome dance. Ansheera of second year commerce welcomed the gathering. Carol Sweety Monteiro, alumni of Ladyhill Victoria Composite PU College, was the chief guest. She being the former student president of the college, is at present serving as staff nurse (department of O and G) at Father Muller Medical College Hospital.

Significance of Christmas was represented symbolically by enacting a skit based on the birth of Jesus Christ. The skit depicted the values essential for life and also each individual’s responsibility to spread the joy and happiness among each other. Students also performed a dance based on Christmas jingles.

Carol addressed the students and emphasized on the birth of Jesus Christ and said that Christmas is the occasion that fill our hearts with love and joy. The students should develop positive attitude towards the obstacles and challenges that come across their day-to-day life. Only then one can attain one’s goal.

Hafeeda compered the programme. Apnaz thanked the guest and the audience.

As a part of the celebration star making competition was also arranged on December 15 by Preethika D’Souza, lecturer in economics.

Carol singing competition was also organized on December 23 by Reema Marina Ornello, lecturer in chemistry. The programme concluded with the college anthem.
