Udupi, Dec 16: ‘Prakruthi, the the annual day celebrations of kindergarten and play school sections of St Mary's English medium school Kannarpady was held on Saturday December 16 at the school premises.
Dr Preetham P Tauro, assistant professor department of paediatrics Fr Muller Medical College Mangaluru was the chief guest for the annual day celebrations. Fr Charles Menezes, correspondent presided over the programme. Fr Roy Lobo, assistant parish priest Udupi church; Maxim D’Souza, vice president parish pastoral committee; Dr Col Arthur Rodrigues, secretary; Fr Johnson Sequeira, principal, and Rita Quadrous, vice principal were present.
In his address to the gathering, Dr Preetham said, "I am thankful to the teachers, staff and parents for their dedication and hard work for today's event. Our little stars are looking amazing. It is evident that a lot of creativity has gone into this. Kindergarten and play school years are like the first stroke in a blank canvas of a child’s life. Teachers play an important role in this age and parents are pillars of support. Father and mother both should be first teachers for a child. A father should also take responsibility for nurturing the child. It is a mutual cooperation between parents and teachers. In some hospitals there are mobile de addiction centres. We should keep our home conducive for child's growth. The partnership between parents and educators is a key factor in the growth of a child. Let us celebrate the support of learning creativity and friendship. Each child is unique and special. Do not compare your child with others. Nurture the best talent of your child. Always remember learning is the journey and every day is a new adventure. May this day stay in your memories forever.”
Fr Charles Menezes in his presidential address said, "This is the day of celebration because whatever we nurtured is going to be presented today. Your presence is the greatest encouragement. Grandparents are the best teachers for a child. Parents put in a lot of effort. Sometimes unknowingly we say or do something that is being watched by children and they imitate it. We need to be a model for the child. Playschool is an added help for all of us to nurture the child. We need to teach sharing. It is an important aspect in their life at the present nuclear family concepts.”
Rajeshwari, a kindergarten coordinator introduced the guests. Fr Johnson Sequeira, principal presented the annual report.
