Mangaluru, Oct 26: In order to create an awareness about importance of Investments among the students at Kavoor government college, an investor awareness programme was organized for all the students by the IQAC and department of commerce & management in collaboration with Mangalore University Commerce Teachers Association ® and Franklin Templeton Asset Management Pvt Ltd, Mangaluru.
The programme was inaugurated by Ramanand Bhandary, an entrepreneur and member of college development committee in a unique way by dropping coins in piggy box. In his inaugural address, he advised the students to start saving and investing right from the early stages of earning, so that the habit will grow in future in big way. The IQAC co-ordinator Dr Therese Periera gave a prelude to the programme.
The formal programme was presided by the principal Dr Shivarama P, who addressed the students and motivated them to earn while learning and use the same for investment in a small way. Dr Geetha M L, HOD department of commerce and management and Dr Santhosh Pinto, student welfare officer were present on stage. Bhargavi of III BCom compered the programme, Deepthi of II BCom welcomed the gathering and Fathima Parveen proposed vote of thanks.
Formal inauguration was followed by two technical sessions. In the first session on 'Financial Literacy', Naveen Rego, a SEBI registered financial planner explained the various aspects relating to investment to the students. In the second session on 'Back to Basics', Leo Amal, senior branch manager, Franklin Templeton Asset Management Pvt Ltd, Mangaluru, enlightened the students about the mutual funds. The programme ended with lunch.
