Mangaluru: The Yenepoya School holds annual sports meet at Mangala Stadium

Mangaluru, Oct 23: The Yenepoya School organized their annual sports meet at Mangala Stadium on Wednesday, October 18 with great enthusiasm. The programme began with an official opening ceremony that was hosted by Hiba Ebrahim. Shashank J Rai, deputy range forest officer, was present as the chief guest.

The gathering was welcomed by the campus coordinator Euvet Pereira. Students of different houses of TYS flaunted their confidence with a convincing march that was led by the school head boy Rahil Ibrahim and the school head girl Kadeeja Afrin.


 

The school band, NCC wing and house captains, were introduced to the chief guest. The torch bearers of the Olympic flame who are achievers in various sporting activities, pulled off the run with great spectacle. Abdul Wafi Hakeem handed the torch to Thalha that was followed by Jaffer Kader, Diya and the sports captains, Havva Siyana and Samith Xavier.

The meet was declared open by releasing the balloons and the sports captain Havva Siyana read out the oath. Students of NEP 2 and 3 displayed an amazing drill that combined dance and exercise. Kadeeja Afrin proposed the vote of thanks and soon after, the track events took place.

As per the categories, students from grades 3 to 12 participated in 100 mtrs, 200 mtrs and 400 mtrs dash. Everyone cheered for the participating students as they displayed great fervour. Medals and certificates were distributed to the winners. The relay races snatched a breathe away from the audience.

The valedictory ceremony began with lowering the school flag and handing over to the sports teachers. The national anthem was played and TYS celebrated yet another successful event under it's glorious banner.
